Design Testament | Mount Maunganui

Positioned on a corner site in downtown Mount Maunganui sits a striking new architectural build designed by Mark Carnachan and built by the team at Mono Homes. Bold design with a strong, definitive exterior this newly completed build project maximises the site and invites intrigue and curiosity.

The clients home is a testament to spatial design and planning reflective of the couple's expertise in the design and manufacture of interiors. Owners of Vekart a commercial and residential interior fit out company, the couple's home has been executed with precision and detail.

The home is a large three bedroom with generous living spaces, home office, and pool. Throughout the upper level living spaces the client chose timber flooring in a wide plank - European Oiled timber in colour nude from Creative Flooring. The beauty of the natural timber in the wider plank complements the scale of the room and provides the perfect canvas for the space.

The award winning kitchen sits pride of place in the room and with the curved central island made out of three marble slabs it is no wonder the couples business also won the 2022 manufacturer of the year award for craftsmanship.

Throughout the open plan living space custom rugs were made to define spaces and add texture and a sense of luxury to the room. One placed within the lounge area and one under the dining table. Both are Bremworth Collection Galet carpet in colour Quartz with a concealed edge.

The staircase from ground floor to the first level is a work of art in itself. Our team created bespoke stairs which were custom made for the project in the same timber as that used in the upper level. The client commissioned custom stair balustrades with their own design detailed in the side frames.

Throughout the bedrooms our client chose Belgotex Solution Dyed Nylon cut pile carpets Crescent in colour Kerb. Pet friendly and low maintenance the carpet provides superior stain resistance and luxurious comfort underfoot.

The family is active and surface choices reflect this. Downstairs the second lounge which accesses the pool and outdoor decking features another custom made rug - Bremworth Transpire in colour Intrigue with a concealed edge softens the space which has a concrete floor.

In the utility room Polyflor Simplay in colour - Light Grey Concrete 2567 has been used for both the design appeal and the practicality of the surface.
